Debasish Mridha once said, “Simplicity reveals the pure beauty of life.” But for many people in the world, the word simplicity is connected to the word boring. And for even more people in the world, to have a boring life is to have no life at all. It’s seems to no different for the students making up Yearbook’s seventh hour class either.
“We wake up, go to work and school, go home, sleep, and repeat the cycle again the next day. There really isn’t any deeper meaning in what life is,” an anonymous student had said. Many of the students interviewed had focused on how much time school takes of in their daily lives.
When asked about the most challenging part of the day, several students all answered with ‘school.’ Addie K. responded to the question with, “School. They give us so much work that it ends up being really overwhelming.”
However, an anonymous student answered with, “My parents. I feel like I’m always just arguing with them.”
The majority of the class seem to have their entire day based around school, whether it be classes, or just surviving long enough to go back home. When Addie K. was asked about her favorite time of day, she had laughed and said, “In the morning and at night, but definitely not the afternoon because of school.”
Most students had the same routine, and many had similar answers the all the questions asked; day to day life is simply plain for a lot of people in the world.
But perhaps simplicity is what makes up the essence of happiness. Despite all the constant stress of work and school, we still have those big, happy moments now and then. And looking forward to those joyful moments is what makes life exciting.
Hopefully we can all strive to break out of routine one day!
